Often the question—should writers respond to rejection?—pops up on social media, and a variety of responses unfold. A couple years back, I made the mistake of also participating in the discourse, and immediately encountered an avalanche of adult infants trying to murder me for explaining that responding to rejection is actually incredibly annoying, and does nothing to make editors suddenly like you.
